2013 Second International Symposium on Ranaviruses

Overview

PrintAfter the success of the first symposium in 2011, organizers began planning for the Second International Symposium on Ranaviruses. This event featured more than 30 oral presentations delivered by scientists from Asia, Australia, North America, South America and Europe, totaling 11 countries. Each day ended with breakout sessions, where participants had the opportunity to discuss relevant issues or topics raised during the preceding sessions. These sessions resulted in identifying urgent research directions, reoccurring issues with ranavirus research and diagnostic cases, and immediate outreach education needs. In addition, a poster session was held with more than 35 poster presentations from 10 countries. Lastly, attendees were able to participate in two ranavirus surveillance field trips. We thank all of the individuals that participated in this symposium; the symposium organizers (Amanda Duffus, Deb Miller, and Matt Gray), planning committees, and their chairs (Greg Chinchar, Jesse Brunner, Matt Gray); and Matt Allender and Matt Gray for leading the field trips. We also thank our 14 sponsors that provided >$30,000 to help offset travel costs for our presenters. Below are resources that were generated from the symposium. We thank everyone who contributed!
